Knights defeat Union County

The Knights went to Union County on Thursday and opened conference play with a 6-5 victory. The boys jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning but Union County countered with 2 runs of their own. The boys scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning but Union County countered back with 1 run to tie the game at 3-3 after 3 innings. Union County scored 2 runs in the 4th inning to gain the lead at 5-3. The boys scored a single run in-the 5th inning and scored 2 runs in the 7th inning to get the lead at 6-5 going into the bottom of the 7th inning. This set the stage for dramatic finish with Union County having the bases loaded with 1 out. The batter hit a low line drive that Logan White was able to grab at 2nd base and the get to 2nd base for the final out. Kaiden White and Justice Hollingsworth each had 2 hits. Treydon York had 2 RBI’s which proved t9 be the runs that pushed the Knights ahead. Hollingsworth also had 2 RBI’s. Kaiden White pitched 4 innings in relief of starter Landen Sum who pitched 3 innings. Kaiden White gained the victory for the team on this night. The Knights play DH at Wapahani on Saturday, starting at 11:00 am.
