The Varsity Boys Cross Country team won the Sectional title for the 2nd year in a row at Connersville High School on Saturday (10/8). A week after winning their 3rd Conference title in a row, the boys ran very well placing all 5 scoring runners in the top 20, and even saw one PR on a traditionally slow course. Chase Cates led the Knights as the Individual Sectional Champion with a time of 17:02.3. The rest of the Knights were not far behind, with Logan Smith 2nd, Nolan Drake 4th (PR of 17:53.5), Mason Mull 18th, Grant Luebbe 19th, Bryston McFarland 27th, and Lucas Chamness 38th. The Varsity Girls also had a great day with a 6th place team finish. While not advancing as a team, 3 runners were able to advance individually to the Regional race. The girls were led by Marissa Cates' 3rd place performance, followed by Heather Crull 20th, Gracie Green 35th, Daisee Spence 44th, and Samantha Whallon 50th. Marissa, Heather, and Gracie all advance to the Regional race. The boys team and the 3 advancing girls will race again at Regional next Saturday (10/15) at Rushville. Races begin at 10:30am.
