The Lady Knights clenched their spot in the sectional championship after a 5-4 victory over the Union County Patriots. The game was a nail-bitter for 8 total innings. Freshman Kenzie Johnson and Senior Clare Lopeman had great performances at the plate and in the circle. Lopeman pitched 3 complete innings, giving up 2 hits, one earned run, and striking out 3. Johnson earned the win, striking out 2 and allowing 3 hits. Both players also went 2-3 at the plate. Freshman Karri Gammon changed the pace of the game in the bottom of the 6th inning when she hit a 2 run homerun to tie the game at 4. The Knights were unable to put another run on the board in the bottom of the 7th, sending the game to extra innings. A few smart plate appearances from Lopeman and Hildebrand gave the Knights base runners in the 8th. Sophomore Addi Wright recorded her first hit of the night and lined up the middle to score the winning run. Allen and Null each recorded a hit of their own. The Knights will face Eastern Hancock in the sectional championship in hopes of earning their first title since 2017.
