Northeastern MS/HS

The Lady Knights traveled to Knightstown for their first round of Sectionals Tuesday night. The Knights were the home team, facing Knightstown on their home field. Northeastern won earlier in the season 7-5 in extra innings against the Panthers. The Knights fought another tough battle against the Panthers in Sectionals, winning 5-4. Senior Clare Lopeman was on the mound for the Knights pitching all 7 innings. Lopeman earned 8 strikeouts on the day, giving up 4 runs (3 ERs) on 1 walk and 6 hits. The Knights were scoreless until the 5th inning, down 2-0 against the Panthers. Northeastern added 1 in the fifth inning and 3 in the sixth inning, putting them up 4-2 going into the final inning. The Panthers pushed 2 across the board tying the game going into the bottom of the seventh. Senior Emma Neeley scored the winning run for Northeastern with a double followed by a throwing error on a hit from Jocelyn Allen (Fr). Northeastern will face Union County on Thursday in game 2 of their Sectionals. The game is planned to start at 5:30 pm. Additional Stats for the Knights: E.
