Knights Fall in Sectional Final, Advance 3 Players to Individual Sectional

The Lady Knights team season ended on Friday with a loss to Centerville in the Sectional Final 2-3, winning at #1 Singles & #1 Doubles, but losing a close match at #2 Doubles. "We had them (Centerville) on the ropes, but we stopped hitting the ball hard and with pace, which is what you have to do against teams and players that are just pushers and lobbers. We didn't do that in key spots and we lost. The bottom line is this: We weren't supposed to be here, there was no expectation from anyone that we would be competing and placing 2nd in the TEC, competing for a Sectional Final, etc. At the beginning of the season, I don't think the girls even thought that this outcome was a possibility, but that's where we ended up, and we need to step back and be proud of the work we put in to get there. In the end, it's all about belief and playing each point for each other and each teammate. I'm just glad to be a small part of this and the privilege of coaching these ladies," said Coach Haynes. The Lady Knights did advance #1 Singles Lauren Lacey and #1 Doubles Ella Coddington & Chaia Gardner to the ISHAA Individual Sectionals @ Mt. Vernon (Fortville) on Tuesday. As of now, we are still waiting on the ISHAA to send us information for a time that they will play. Singles: #1 Lauren Lacey won 6-0, 6-0 #2 Josie Retz lost 1-6, 0-6 #3 Aubrey Mainous lost 3-6, 1-6 Doubles: #1 Ella Coddington & Chaia Gardner won 6-2, 6-2 #2 Alyssa Sheets & Olivia Null lost 6-7 (4-7), 0-6
