Knights Fall to Yorktown

The Lady Knights fell 6-4 against Yorktown on Monday night. Yorktown scored a run in both the second and third innings taking a 2-0 lead on the Knights. Northeastern took the lead in the fifth inning earning 4 runs with the help of an RBI double from Lexi Russell (Jr), and a 3-run homer from senior Emma Neeley. Yorktown scored 1 in the bottom of the fifth and added 3 more in the bottom of the sixth, regaining the lead. The Knights were scoreless in the last two innings, resulting in a loss. Clare Lopeman (Sr) started on the mound for Northeastern, pitching 3 innings. Lopeman gave up only 2 runs on 2 hits and earning 1 strikeout. Sophomore Addi Wright came in to pitch 3 innings for the Knights, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, and earning 1 strikeout. The Lady Knights will travel to Hagerstown on Tuesday to compete in their last TEC game of the year. The Knights are 5-1 in the conference while the Tigers are 5-0. With a Northeastern win, the two teams share the conference title. The game was rained out last week while in the bottom of the first inning. The game will resume where it left off.
