The Lady Knights add another conference win on their season on Friday, with a tough game against Union City. Senior Emma Neeley was the first on the scoreboard with a solo homer in the first inning. The Indians took the lead in the fourth, scoring 4 runs on the Knights' defense. Neeley earned her second homerun of the game in the third inning, putting the Knights down only 2 runs. With an additional 3 runs added for the Indians, the Knights got hot in the fifth inning, scoring 7 straight runs with the help from back-to-back homeruns by Lilly Null (Sr) and Clare Lopeman (Sr). The Knights never lost the lead form that point on. With an additional 2 runs scored for each team, the Knights won 11-9. Senior Clare Lopeman started in the circle for Northeastern, pitching 2 innings, earning 2 strikeouts, and giving up 4 runs (3 ERs) on 5 hits. Freshman Kenzie Johnson came in to pitch the remaining 5 innings, giving up 5 runs (3 ERs) on 5 hits, and striking out 1. The Lady Knights will travel to Franklin County on Saturday for the Franklin County Softball Invite, where they will play w games. They will play Hauser at 12:00pm.
