Knights Golf at South Adams Invite

Feels like I write this often about Spring Golf in Indiana. The Knights played their first invitational of the season at Wabash Valley Golf Club in Geneva for the South Adams Invitational. The course had 8 inches of rain over the past 2 weeks but was in very good condition. The greens were very quick and the back nine is the toughest nine holes of golf we will see this year unless the team advances to Regionals We started the day below 40 degrees and never made it above 45 with the wind a constant 20 mph. The conditions were difficult. Our team score of 370 was good for 7th place in the field of 12. Once again, Hayden Chalfant drove the ball extremely well and his overall ball striking was the best it has been all year. A faulty putter cost him his first High School victory. 7 three putts on the day led to a score of 81, good for 4th place and 3 shots behind the winner. Brady Geis with a 90 today and good for 22nd of 60 players. Brady was playing well until a tough punch shot from the trees on hole 8 went backwards. A triple bogey 8 and then a difficult back nine. Landon Scarrette played his first 18 hole event in 94 shots. Landon was one of many kids on our team that couldn’t figure out the greens. Multiple 3 putts and a 4 putt. Landon Helms with a 105 and Brandt Benjamin with a 110 rounded out the scoring. Next up on Monday vs Tri High in a conference match. A cold windy day, go visit Generations Grill & Sports Bar and Charley Bryant. They take care of our team, so please take care of them!!
