The boys and girls Varsity Cross Country teams competed Saturday (8/27) at the Rushville Classic Invitational. The girls started the day off with a 3rd place finish, out of 8 complete teams. The ladies were led by Marissa Cates (2nd overall) with a time of 19:57.0, followed by Gracie Green (9th), Heather Crull (22nd), Juztice Slick (53rd), Daisee Spence (59th), and Samantha Whallon (71st). In all, 5 of 6 girls had a season best time, with 2 girls achieving PR's. The boys continued where the girls left off, securing a 1st place finish, scoring just 26 points. Chase Cates took command of the race early and never looked back finishing 1st in 16:48.6. The top scoring Knights packed into the top 15 with, Mason Mull (3rd), Logan Smith (4th), Nolan Drake (8th), Grant Luebbe (12th), Bryston McFarland (15th). The rest of the boys ran very well and saw huge time improvements with Lucas Chamness (43rd), Dalton Justice (56), Conner Austerman (58th), Brandt Benjamin (89th), Kobe Williams (94th), and Ethan Mills (118th). 11 of the 12 boys saw season best times and 6 PR's. The Knights race again Saturday (9/3) at the Marion Invitational held at IWU, races begin at 8:30. Go Knights XC!
