Northeastern MS/HS

The Varsity Cross Country teams competed last Saturday at the Richmond Hare and Hounds Invitational held at the IU East cross country course. Facing 3-4 A schools, both teams finished very well. The girls placed 5th, but not far out of 3rd. The boys repeated their runner up performance from last season, just behind Greenfield-Central (ranked 21st in the state amongst all classes). Leading the way for the girls was Marissa Cates in 2nd place with a time of 20:09.4, followed by Gracie Green (19th), and Heather Crull (32nd). The boys were lead to the finish line by Chase Cates in 3rd place and breaking 17min for the first time this season (16:50.7), followed by Mason Mull (6th) with a new PR of 17:38.0, Logan Smith (11th), Nolan Drake (13th), and Grant Luebbe (17th). The Knights race again this Saturday (Aug 27th) at the Rushville Classic, held at Rushville elementary. Races begin at 9am. Go Knights XC!
