The Knights Golf team fought the good fight and were in the lead for 3rd place coming into the final groups on the 18th hole, but couldn’t find 2 pars on the tough par 5 at Forest Hills and lost out moving on to Regional by one shot, finishing with a team score of 353 to Centerville’s 352.
“Definitely heartbreak for the team. We will feel this loss for a long time. We have everyone coming back next year and hopefully this is a motivator and now they understand why I always say every shot matters. It takes total focus and concentration on every hole, every shot. Hopefully we’ll grow and learn from this and remember that nothing in golf or life is given, you have to take those chances and make the most of them in these moments.
I am very proud of the boys and they way they fought today. We gave ourselves a chance that few thought we had at the beginning of the season. Also a big shout-out to parents, family, and friends for this season. Without you, we don’t come close to our goals! Thank you for everything!
Jake Shue fired an 82 and Bailey Moistner shot an 88 to advance as individuals to the Regional, but both were unable to go. Alex Beatty, who also shot an 88, will represent the Knights as an individual at the Player’s Club in Yorktown at 9am.
The Knights finished the season as a team with a 6-2 record in the TEC (3rd place) 3-0 in non-conference play, 9-2 Overall Dual record and a 43-23 Tournament record, with a Season record of 52-25 Overall (Duals and Tournaments). The Knights won the Wayne County Championship and South Adams Invitational.
