In picturesque Amish country in Geneva, Indiana, the Knights golf squad came into Wabash Valley GC hungry for another tournament win and produced a solid team score of 337 to beat their nearest opponent by 30 strokes.
The Knights were paced by a 3-over round of 74 by tournament medalist Jake Shue, followed by Bailey Moistner, who shot a personal best 81, Dylan Goble, who shot an 89, Alex Beatty with a 93, and Kyle Woolums with a 97.
“While a couple players may have struggled a little, it is amazing to see a team like this help each other out…A player may not be doing well, but we have a team that is stepping up and getting the scores we need to become a successful team. We knew we could win this tournament and we told ourselves to leave no doubt as to which team was the best on this course today. I think we did that and the players should be very proud of themselves. We’ve got our last TEC match this week and the TEC Tournament at Royal Hylands and we want to be playing on all cylinders for the next 3-4 weeks. We can’t be satisfied…have to stay hungry, work on course management and putting, as these seemed to be our biggest obstacles today, so we go back to work Monday, but I’ll tell you that we’re going to enjoy winning this tournament for the first time this weekend. Well-played and well-deserved win,” said Coach Haynes.
