On the arid dirt of Hartley Hills, the Lady Knights girls team fell 223-190 to the Tigers.
Led by Senior Mallory Kerns with a 54, the Knights struggled with the qwik-crete greens at the Hills, caused by the severe lack of rainfall.
“I told the girls the course would be harder than a rock out here and the course was very, very dry, which was good for off the tee, but around the green, we just haven’t seen anything like the way the ball was bouncing. You could literally hit a ball 30-50 yards off the green and roll it on, which made it difficult to adjust for us. I expected higher scores due to the conditions, but we still need work on our irons, chipping, and putting. If we work hard, we could each lower our scores by 10 strokes each 9 we play; the ladies just need to get confident they can hit those shots. Back to work!”
The Lady Knights JV also fell 230-242. “The JV has nothing to hang their heads about…Their scores are really close to the Varsity, so they’re right there pushing the Varsity Girls to be better.”
The Knights fall to 0-1 in the TEC, and have a break to work on their games before their next match at Highland on the 20th of August.
