The Northeastern Knights Boys Golf Team concluded their season by finishing 6th in Sectional play at Forest Hills Country Club GC with a 388 team score. Jake Shue finished 4 shots away from a qualification spot to go to regionals as an individual. “I will use this as a lesson for next year,” said Jake.
Taylor Appledorn finished his career at Northeastern, shooting a 94. “I definitely wanted to shoot a little better, but I feel like I made progress this year, said Taylor.
We’re going to work hard in the offseason and really improve our games,” said Bailey Moistner, Nick Laird, and Kyle Woolums.
Coach Haynes added, “We just need these guys to compete in situations outside the golf season so we have a chance to be great. What they need to understand is that they can only get much better when they practice and play in the offseason and dedicate themselves to the sport. You can’t expect to be good and play well when you haven’t hit a ball for 9 months. So it’s got to be a year-long process for this program, these guys hitting golf balls 2-5x a week, playing, weighlifting, and conditioning. That’s how we’re going to be successful.”
