NHS did something on Friday night only one other team in TEC history had done….win four consecutive titles in a row.
The Knights travelled to Union City needing a victory over the Indians to write their names in history. 48 minutes later, they had done just that by handily defeating UC 70-16.
Things started out with a bang as Kaleb Mikesell returned the opening kickoff for an 80 yard TD to give NHS a lead they would never surrender.
The Knights rushing attack continued to dominate by running for 447 yards on 31 carries (14.4 average). Leading the way was Ryan Hartmann(SR) with 163 yards on 11 carries. Close behind was Connor Bray(JR) with 145 yards on 7 carries and Josh Tudor(SR) with 93 yards on 5 carries.
The Knights were led in scoring by Tudor and Hartmann with 3 td’s each while Bray hit pay dirt twice.
Defensively, the Knights were led by Ryan Hartmann’s 12 tackles. Next in line was Cole Retter(JR) with
9 and Dakota Green(SR) with 8. Tudor, David Berger(JR), Chace Mosley(SR) and Harrison Rice(SR) all tallied 7 tackles a piece.
The Senior front four of Mosley, Rice, Green, and Gunnar Adams(SR) all recorded one sack each.
The Knights finish the regular season with a 7-2 record (6-1 in the TEC) and travel to Indianapolis to take on the Howe Hornets in round one of the sectional tournament.
